Work-based and work-related learning
Work-based learning plays an increasingly important part in the curriculum and is an area in which Salford has recognised strengths.
Employability and Employer Engagement
Graduate employability and employer engagement are key factors in the strategy and practice of the University of Salford. This is evidenced by the University recently being awarded the two year, £3.5 m HEFCE funded Driving Transformational Change for Employer Engagement Project.
In preparation for the session 'Employability and Employer Engagement' at the Associate Heads Teaching (AHT) Residential (January 2008) the AHTs were asked to complete a short questionnaire relating to graduate employability and employer engagement. The aim was to collate the responses and feedback the main points at the session to share good practice and stimulate further development of employer engagement to support graduate employability.

Work-based Learning Symposium
The Work-based Learning Symposium held on 9 November 2005 enabled participants to share good practice and provided ideas and strategies for work place learning development in their own subject areas
National and regional perspectives on work-based learning were provided by speakers from the University of Glasgow and the North West Development Agency, whilst local perspectives were provided by colleagues from the University of Salford, ensuring the event encompassed an exploration of both work-based learning in its broader context and in respect of local practice.
'Work-based Learning at the University of Salford' (opens in new browser window) provides an overview of event, a summary of discussions which took place throughout the day, the event evaluations and a list of attendees.
