Welcome to the MA/PgDip/PgCert in Higher Education Practice and Research webpages - a suite of part-time programmes developed to meet the needs of new and experienced staff who wish to explore and enhance their professional teaching practice within an increasingly complex HE environment.

We do not see teaching as a simple process of following a set of 'techniques, tips and prescribed practices' but view it as 'more a matter of making judgements in the face of conflicting priorities, [increased student diversity and the need to formulate alternative learning and teaching approaches] in different situations.'

The programme suite

Entry to the Programme
There are three potential entry points with possibilities for the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) in the form of equivalent qualifications or Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) for those with prior experience in the HE/FE learning environment.
