What is the Learning and Teaching Research Network?
The University of Salford Learning and Teaching Research Network is open to all staff within the University with a shared interest in learning and teaching research and the development of a culture of scholarship and critical reflection on the learning and teaching process. Why join the Network?
Membership of the Learning and Teaching Research Network provides:
- contact with over 200 colleagues within the University with a shared interest in educational research
- an active seminar and workshop programme
- the annual Education in a Changing Environment Conference, University of Salford
- the potential for collaborative research across schools and faculties
- support in the preparation of research and project proposals, and the dissemination and publication of work
- regular updates on forthcoming conferences, external seminars and funding opportunities
What are the objectives of the Network?
- To act as a catalyst for the development of critical and effective research into teaching and learning
- To contribute to the achievement of targets within the University's research strategy
- To draw on existing activity and interest and provide a focus for new activity in research into teaching and learning
- To provide opportunities and encouragement for cross disciplinary collaboration and the sharing of ideas and good practice
- To organise research seminars and events and establish a forum within which staff can share views and research findings
- To support individual and collaborative research projects and the dissemination, publication and recognition of educational research both internally and externally
- To develop, implement and review an enabling framework to build research capability and develop staff knowledge and expertise
- To make informed inputs into practice and policy development and to the University's Teaching and Learning Strategy

If you wish to contribute to the network in any of the ways highlighted below please contact LTRN-enquiries@salford.ac.uk
- Contribute to the network discussion list.
All members of the network are included on a network e-mail discussion list. This provides a forum for information to be shared between network members and is also a place where support and advice can be sought. - Suggestions for workshops and seminars
Staff and Curriculum Development organise an annual series of seminars and workshops relating to learning and teaching research. Suggestions for future topics or speakers are welcome. - Offer a workshop or seminar
The Learning and Teaching Research Network is keen to promote sharing of research experience and findings. If you would like to offer a workshop or seminar related to educational research please get in touch. - Availability for one-to-one support
We are keen for more experienced researchers within the network to offer advice and support to new learning and teaching researchers, especially in relation to bidding for research funds, research design, writing for publication and submission of conference papers. If we could approach you to offer support in any of these areas please let us know. Your details will be stored and we will contact you when requests come in to see if you are available. - Requests for advice and support
If you are a new educational researcher and you would like one-to-one support with any aspect of your research please contact the LTRN with details of your request. Alternatively let us know and we will try to find you an appropriate contact.
