- are awarded by universities and higher education colleges in England
Foundation Degrees are vocational, work-related qualifications. They are designed and delivered in partnership with employers, normally in areas where there is a skills shortage. On a foundation degree you will spend time on placements as well as in the university or college, developing your practical skills and academic knowledge. Foundation degrees are useful in their own right - graduates find they open up plenty of opportunities and provide the option to progress on to full degrees. A full-time foundation degree normally takes between two and two and a half years, although many are also available part-time.
The Foundation Degree sits just below the honours degree, however, successful students will have the option to progress to an honours degree programme.
